Chengdu Enterprises Intensify Global Expansion, Securing More Opportunities for Orders
Updated: 2025.05.07

"Having just returned from an exchange visit in Munich, Germany, I need to promptly organize the key areas of collaboration," said Han Zhou'an, Supervisor of the Chengdu Aerospace Industry Allian ce, who is exceptionally busy during this Labor Day holiday. On this German visit, many Chengdu technology firms, universities, and research institutions participated in the "Tianfu Sci-Tech Innovation · Smart Chengdu" China (Chengdu) - Germany International Innovation and Technology Cooperation Exchange Conference in Munich, and 18 cooperation intentions were reached on-site during the event.

This scenario encapsulates the intensive international engagement of the Chengdu delegation over the past month. The Chengdu Conference on Opening up and Development, held on April 15, called on leveraging the expanding openness as a relentless driving force to infuse high-quality economic development with robust vitality, thereby fostering changes to generate variables, subsequently triggering incremental growth. Following this, several delegations departed for international engagements. In Riyadh, Chengdu's industrial enterprises presented their products, securing on-site contracts worth over five billion yuan. In Thailand, companies from Chengdu's logistics and supply chain sector engaged in dialogues with local business leaders to explore the development of international logistics channels and other initiatives.

"The gains are not just orders, but also substantial opportunities for development in more elevated and extensive domains," stated Deng Shiyu, Secretary-General of the Chinese-German Association for Technology and Science (CDVTW ). He introduced the "China-German Technology and Capital" dual-drive model and suggested establishing a liaison office in Chengdu. The proposal promptly garnered a response from Chengdu. Currently, the CDVTW has accepted the city's invitation and is actively facilitating a visit by a delegation of German technology enterprises to Chengdu.

Tang Junwen, General Manager of Energy Automate  Artificial Intelligence Technology (Chengdu) Co., Ltd., identified significant business prospects during his journey to Saudi Arabia with the Chengdu government and corporate delegation. He noted that the six Gulf countrie s, where over 60 percent of the population is under 30, boast an internet penetration rate of 90 percent—far exceeding the global average. The immense blue ocean of the digital economy concealed within these statistics prompted the company to decide to organize a team as soon as possible, aiming for a long-term presence in Saudi Arabia.

As companies increasingly venture overseas, air channels are also being swiftly expanded: Before the Labor Day holiday, Chengdu unveiled the simultaneous resumption, initiation, and enhancement of 14 international passenger and cargo flight routes. An examination of the flight itineraries indicates a close alignment between the routes heading to destinations such as Paris, Dubai, Penang in Malaysia, and Osaka in Japan, and the paths traversed by the Chengdu delegations during their overseas trips.

"Chengdu, as an inland city, must prioritize the development of pathways to facilitate more enterprises in their quest to expand globally." A leading official from the Chengdu Port and Logistics Office highlighted the newly opened Chengdu-Dubai cargo flight route, noting that in 2024, the Dubai International Airpor t handled over 92 million passengers, ranking it as the world's second busiest airport, just behind the Atlanta International Airport , and its cargo traffic is among the highest globally. "The launch of this route not only marks a breakthrough in establishing a cargo route from Chengdu to the Middle East region but also creates a critical air logistics corridor that offers southwest China's advantageous industries, such as electronic information and high-end manufacturing, a direct access to the Middle East, helping more 'Made in Chengdu' products reach global customers," said the official.

To better serve Chengdu enterprises in their global ventures, Chengdu proposes to establish 100 "Belt and Road" international supply chain service stations by the end of 2027 and organize enterprises to conduct supply chain matching activities at these stations. To date, Chengdu has set up 25 "Belt and Road" international supply chain service stations in locations such as Beijing, Hong Kong, Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, and Vientiane, the capital of Laos. This year, the number is anticipated to grow by an additional 10 to 15.
